Environment · Roadworks

Roadworks protection: early warning, clear tapers and safe pedestrian routes.

At roadworks, people and machinery operate just a few metres from passing traffic. The closure must be visible from a distance, in the dark and in bad weather, and pedestrians still need a way through. Here are the five risk zones, the products that typically solve them and what you should know before you order.

Cones or concrete barriers?

The most important choice for your closure.

Cones

Quick to set out and move as the work progresses. The right choice for tapers and short-term closures.

Concrete barriers

Heavy units that stay put and block off the area. The right choice facing traffic on longer-running works.

Rules for roadworks

Whoever carries out the work is responsible for protecting road users and workers.

Working on a road usually requires a traffic management plan approved by the road authority. The plan shows how traffic will be guided past and how the work area will be protected. Closures, warnings and safe pedestrian routes are among the most common measures. Requirements vary, so always check the rules that apply locally. The rules don’t approve individual products – it’s the placement that counts. Read more about standards →

FAQ about roadworks
Do I need a traffic management plan?

Usually yes, when the work affects traffic on a road or street. The plan is approved by the road authority, for example the municipality. Feel free to send us the plan and we’ll suggest equipment based on it.

What reflective class do the cones have?

The extra-robust U-23 traffic cone has class II reflective bands and comes in heights of 515, 755 and 960 mm.

Can you come and take a look on site?

No, we’re a pure web shop. A photo and a simple sketch are almost always enough for a good proposal – and that keeps prices down.
