Environment · Events and temporary barriers

Protection for events and temporary barriers: orderly queues, no vehicles in the crowd and safe walkways.

At concerts, markets and sports events, large crowds need to be guided in, out and around in a short time. Vehicles, cables and soft ground create risks you don’t face on an ordinary day. Here are the five risk zones, the products that usually solve them and what you should know before you order.

Barriers or chain posts?

The most important choice for your barrier layout.

Crowd-control barriers

Steel barriers that connect with interlocking hooks. The right choice when the crowd must be kept out of an area.

Chain posts

Easy to move and rearrange during the day. The right choice for queues and guiding visitors.

Rules that apply at events

The organiser is responsible for the safety of visitors and staff.

The organiser must assess the risks where audiences, vehicles and staff move around and keep escape routes clear. Public events often require a permit – in Sweden from the police; local rules apply. Barriers, vehicle stops and safe walkways are among the most common measures. The rules don’t approve individual products – it’s the placement that counts. Read more about standards →

FAQ about events
Do the movable bollards need to be fixed to the ground?

No. The bollard stands on a 230 kg concrete base that keeps it stable without fixing, and the base has forklift pockets.

How many crowd-control barriers do we need?

Each barrier is 2.5 metres long. Measure the distance, divide by 2.5 and add extra for corners and openings.

Can you come and look at the site?
